“Why would anyone in this day and age support a breeder of any stripe?
Reputable breeders are few and far between. They would NEVER advertise to the public, their puppies are spoken for before the mother dog even goes into season. The idea that people would solicit a dog from a breeder and not Breed Rescue or their local shelter (where 30% of the dogs are "purebred" and just as often euthanized for space as the average mixed dog)is really confusing. Give a dog a home that needs one, don't add to the over population driven by profit. If you love dogs, that is. ”

“According to this article this website it's self is sponsored by puppy mill breeders- who use dogfinders.com on dog.com to advertise! What a load of total B!S! I myself do not ship my puppies- I insist all prospective families come to our house to meet me & my 4- legged friends. But- I do advertise online- so lumping all online advertisers together is just wrong, slanderous & totally irresponsible! Just watch out for anyone who won't let you come to their home & meet all of your dogs! Go in person- don't ask to meet them on the highway or have little babies shipped unattended in cages to where-ever!”

“Apparently- anyone who advetises on this website- which is supported by dogfinders.com-an internet venue for selling and buying dogs- must be puppy mills! What a load of B! S! Any breeder- reputable or otherwise HAS to advertise! I do strongly believe that the quality of a dog's life is the most important consideration...I make everyone who adopts a puppy from me sign an agreement that the baby will NEVER be chained, caged, kennel or crated for any length of time!”

“We bought a Great Dane from a family that loved dogs ( we thought)
DanLea Farms in Indianna
317-539-4340
They sounded like family.
Our Dane ( Gunner ) spent 8 out of the 14 months we had him at the Vets and then to a hospital only to find out we could keep him alive and let him suffer or we could to the humane thing and put him to sleep .
We had spent all this time between doctor visits and hospital stays -- walking him /sleeping on the floor with him / hand feeding him food and chips of ice/ when we finally reliazed he could no longer get up except to go out to the bathroom and then lay at the bottom of our steps -- we had to make a choice -- do we keep him here with us or do the right thing and end his suffering -- I called to ask the Breeders for any records from their Vet so we could understand how all this went so wrong , they told me they don't go to Vets but I could have another puppy for half price and they had 6 other breeds if we did not want another Dane .
Gunner was finally put to sleep. We waited a year and found a breeder close by -- went to their house -- saw where the dogs sleep, eat and run , information on other danes they had sold and phone # to all of those people -- we talked to some and finally went down and picked out a puppy , Harley is 3 yrs old now and a wonderful companion but we will never forget the ( DanLea Farms from Indiana )
Everyone needs to be aware when they buy a puppy -- do your home work so you don't have to see a dog suffer before your eyes and you are powerless to help .
If you are looking for a Dane send this Breeder an e-mail.

“Good breeders can be breeding more than two types of breeds. As long as the breeder takes the time to perfect each breed and to stay educated on current vaccinations, wormers, attending breeder clubs, vet advice, etc. then he/she is taking the proper steps to being a good breeder. If the breeds are what this person knows and is educated on there houldn't be a problem, it is the condition that the facility is in and how the animals are being treated. the breeder should be able to tell you every name of every dog and should be able to tell you the personality of each dog. if the breeder cannot do this stay away. the breeder should be licenced! make sure to check the USDA records and get vet references. the vet should tell you the truth but he/she cannot slander the breeder so take subtle hints. Once again, it is ok that a breeder breeds more than one or two types of breeds. Use your judgement and go with your gut, if you are not comfortable then don't buy.”

“Dogs in puppy mills don't have to be stacked in wire crates to be considered inhumaine. People who breed their female because they want to experience birth are just as horrific as those who do keep multiple dogs in wire cages. over-breeding is the issue. those who are advertising in the paper are part of the problem because they breed without a purpose (they do not show, or have thier dogs compete in trials for the breed, like gun dog trials for hunting dogs or earth dog trials for terriers. these people breed to make money not to perfect the breed(s). Puppy mills or backyard breeders can be your neighbors.”
