Hypoplasia of dens
Hypoplasia of dens is caused when the axis and atlas neck vertebrae slip up and down and compress the spinal cord where it runs between the vertebrae. This is caused by abnormal vertebrae and can result in pain and paralysis for the dog. The dog may need surgery to correct this abnormality.
