Hypoplastic Trachea
Hypoplastic Trachea is a congenital disorder that will be apparent before your puppy reaches 5 to 6 months of age. It is an abnormal growth of the rings of cartilage that form the trachea. This causes a narrowing of the trachea and difficulty breathing. The symptoms of Hypoplastic Trachea are coughing and laboured breathing that is noisy. Some dogs could contract bronchopneumonia and Hypoplastic Trachea could be one factor of brachycephalic syndrome. There is no specific treatment for Hypoplastic Trachea but it is important to maintain your dogs weight and keep it at optimum weight.
