Liver Shunt
A liver shunt is an abnormal blood flow between the liver and the body. When a shunt occurs the blood flow from the body bypasses the liver and causes the dog to be smaller and the shunt disables the livers ability to rid itself of toxins. The dog will begin to suffer from seizures due to the built up toxins. Treatment of a liver shunt is surgery.
