Placenta
A vascular organ that is found in most mammals. It develops during pregnancy and is formed in the lining of the uterus by the union of the uterine mucous membranes with the membranes of the fetus. The placenta eliminates waste products and provides nourishment for the fetus. It is expelled after birth.
