Possibly the most important aspect of a surprise party--other than pulling off the surprise--is serving up something delicious for both species.

Sur-pear-ise party puddin'

2 cups cooked oatmeal
2 chopped pears
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp margarine or vegetable oil
1 jar banana baby food

Directions: Combine oatmeal, margarine, and baby food, mixing thoroughly. Fold in strawberries. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and microwave 10 seconds. Makes 6 small servings.

Accompaniments for people guests: Add bone-shaped cookies to the usual party fare. Sugar cookie dough works beautifully; steer clear of chocolate--just in case in any of the canines get the wrong idea.
