ID dog tags
The cheapest insurance you will ever buy, an ID tag is a necessity even if your dog is microchipped. You just never know when someone is going to leave the gate or door open for a moment too long or when your dog will decide to dig under the fence--but needless to say, it rarely happens during business hours. If a microchip is your dog's only ID, it could take longer to get him back than if he had an ID tag too.
Dogs don't care what their ID tags look like, so it's entirely up to your taste and budget. Just remember to check the tags regularly to make sure they're still there and your contact info's still legible; ID tags can fall off or get too beaten up to read.
