Our take: Earthbath makes soap-free, pH-balanced shampoos they guarantee won't irritate your pup's skin. All are biodegradable, and all can be used along with topical flea control products, although you should wait a few days to apply flea control after using the orange peel kind. They also offer shampoo bars.

They've got nine different formulations, geared toward dogs with allergies, sensitive skin, stinky coats, hot spots and other problems, as well as a conditioner and tear-free shampoo especially for puppies. You may be able to find Earthbath at large chains like Petco.

The dogs weigh in: A scrubbing with Earthbath left Ginger's fur smelling and feeling good. It didn't take a long time to rinse out, which helps keep Ginger happy--quick like a bunny is her philosophy when it comes to bathing--and the mild scent didn't seem to bother her. Okay, so I tried it on my own hair and liked it, but don't tell anyone.
