FlexGel Luxury Pet Bed

Our take: Wow! This company uses the same gel as the company's human medical beds. The honeycomb structure distributes weight evenly, which isn't much of an issue for Clint's 9 pounds, but it distributed nicely for Fred, the 20-pounder geriatric, as well as my sister's 50-pound dog.

The cover is some proprietary material they make with copper woven in so it's stain protected, anti-microbial, hypo-allergenic, and anti-bacterial. It doesn't cling to odor, bacteria, or parasites such as dust mites, so it's good for incontinent, ill, or allergic dogs. Both the honeycomb structure and the cover can be machine washed and dried (woo hoo!).

The dogs weigh in: Clint and Fred both loved the comfort factor. It's shaped like a flat pad so both Clint and Fred could get on at the same time (they could, but didn't. Let's get real.) They both prefer nestle beds, but this was clearly comfortable and Clint slept like a poodle rock on it.

Cost: high

  • Custom Dog Bed from theDogLife

I was looking everywhere for a bed that would fit directly into my dogs crate or would be close but after months of looking I almost gave up. Finally I found a company called theDogLife (www.thedoglife.ca) that made what they were calling "custom dog beds". I sent an email and within a few minutes I had a reply from the company saying they will make ANY size I wanted. I got a quote on a complete custom bed, 24.5" x 32" x 2" made of their microfiber material (like my couch) and my bed was shipped out in under a week! All said and done, my pup and I couldn't be happier! Check them out if you need a dog bed and the usual stores just aren't cutting it. thedoglife.ca Cheers, James
