Jeremy Renner’s French Bulldog dies

Oscar-nominated actor Jeremy Renner suffered a loss this weekend, when his pet French Bulldog unexpectedly died in Orange County, CA.

According to reports, Renner let friend and business partner Kristoffer Winters take care of the 8-month-old dog, named Franklin, for the day. Winters took the pup to his nephew’s little league baseball game, where, after running around in the 80-degree heat, Franklin vomited, burst into convulsions, and died. Winters reportedly went to get a snack before the dog collapsed, and he found the dog was dead when he returned.

Despite several attempts at mouth-to-mouth, the pooch could not be revived.

The French Bulldog dog breed is prone to heat exhaustion.

“Right now the only thing consistent in my life is that little dog [Franklin],” Renner said in the December 2011 issue of Details magazine. “That’s why I got it. I was getting really lonely. I needed somebody or something to be there with me through the whole journey.”

Renner is a rising star in Hollywood, and he received Oscar nominations for acting in The Hurt Locker and The Town. He recently starred in the critical and box-office hit Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol; upcoming projects include The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy.
