I was shopping in the Castro with my husband when we happened to pass a pet shop where the Milo Foundation was having an adoption event on the sidewalk. He spotted a
black furball with orangey brown tufts behind a tall makeshift enclosure.
Within seconds, he climbed into the cage and went straight towards her, lifted her up, kissed her little nose, turned the little baby bear cub towards me, grinned a smile a mile wide and said, 'Can I have her?'.
We were both smitten and it's been true love ever since.
