5 ways to green your dog
Thursday March 31st, 2011
1. Buy eco-friendly dog supplies. Look for biodegradable, recycled, or recyclable materials.
2. Use biodegradable poop bags--ideally, ones you can flush down the toilet.
3. Leash your dog in wildlife areas.
4. Use the least toxic flea treatment that works. If you use pesticides, spot-on treatments are better than dips, collars, powders, and sprays. If your winters are too cold for fleas, ask your vet about treating your dog only during the warmer flea season.
5. Buy locally-made dog food that's free of pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics--or make your own.
