Missing Border Collie. Bewdley area.

Hi, Nick, Your blog post popped up on my "Google Alerts" as we share the same name. Interesting that you'd be interested in dogs and have a post of the beautiful Border Collie Rosie (hope she finds her way home!). I have three Border Collies, Lucy, Ethel, and Bessie, and they are my family. Good luck with your studies! I'll read the rest of your blog over the next few days! Cheers! Nick Jones Houston, Texas

The Border Collie War: ABCA vs. AKC

So I read most of this, but my eyes are starting to hurt from so much computer, and I will finish reading it later, but I want to say that I think that the AKC is a bunch of crap! ABCA is FOR Border Collies, as said, and AKC is just for DOGS in general, which I love any dog, but I think that it is easier for a registry to mess up breeds by registering more than one breed. Or more than one TYPE of breed, such as shepherds, or bullies, or lapdogs...

Service Dogs: To pet or not to pet

What about educating the public that there are many SD other then a guide or mobility SD. They can be a 2lb. dog trained for whatever the handler needs are. It is about time that the public be made aware of the fact rather then continually hearing, "You are not blind, he can't be a service dog". Better yet, start fining restaurants that refuse to let a SD in because you are not blind or in a wheelchair, as well ... (continued)

Service Dogs: To pet or not to pet

We need stronger laws on people that bother a service dog when its on duty! There need to be a law where the person get 5 years in jail and pays you $900 for not leave SD alone. If you think we need a law like this please help by writing your U.S. Senate,Legislative,Representative And also your Governer. Get other to help as well! Let me know what you think?

Does your dog not like to play with other dogs?

My dog is very friendly and very passive. When he visits his friends (doggies) he'll say Hi, do a little sniffing and then will just wander off. People have asked me, "Doesn't he like to play?". He will be 12 years old next week and I don't think I can ever remember him romping around with another dog? Is this a border collie trait?

Fenced area size for a BC

Hi everybody, I'm a new owner of a BC pup - 3 months old. I'm going to create a fenced area on my backyard and I'm looking for an advise on what would be a reasonably-sized area for him to play and exercise (I'd like to avoid fencing the entire yard, but I also want to make him comfortable and provide ample space for training). Any advise is very much appreciated.

Service Dogs: To pet or not to pet

Thank you for getting the Service Dog Etiquette correct!!! I always give my Service Dog, Cody, a release command so he can socialize. They are our best ambassadors, and need to interact with the public to teach about service dogs and disabilities.
