Suitable family dogs?
Are Brittanys good family dogs with young children? Also, do they do well if they are left alone for a long time? We have kids aged 4,5,9 all not familiar with dogs, brittanys seem a nice size, and nice tempermant, but we may have to leave it alone for up to 4 hours. We are likely to have someone let it out during the day to let do its business, but thats about it. Will it be suitable?

How hard is it to train a Brittany?
I'm looking into getting a Brittany, and while most of the websites about Brittanys have given them a 4 out of five for ease of training, dogtime only gives them a 3 out of five. And while that isn't the worst, I prefer dogs that are easier to train than others.
I really like everything about the Brittany, except what I have just run into.
Are they hard to train? Or does dogtime have their information mixed up?

Is a Brittany HYPER?
I love everything I read about the Brittany - except that some reports claim they can be hyper. On the other hand I have read that Brittanies are NOT hyper, but they ARE active.
Wanting to see for myself, I met with a Brittany owner. This 9 month old dog was certainly more than I could handle....she jumped on us and she just couldn't settle down. The owners did say that she doesn't get many (any?) visitors,... (continued)
