I live on a farm and have five other dogs; a black Lab I adopted, a Blue Tick Coonhound who someone dropped off and who had heart worms which we treated, a Rat Terrier who nobody wanted, and two Yorkies. My Lab and Blue Tick are farm dogs, the other three are inside dogs. I take care of horses, ours and some that belong to other people. I had to have my Chow Chow put down a few days ago and am having a hard time dealing with the fact that I was so distraught when the vet called to give me the news that I just told him to put her down and when the vet asked if I wanted to be there I told him no, that I had already told her I loved her. In hanging up I realized I was wrong, that I should be there for her, to hold her, to tell her how much I loved her, and to send her on her journey but when I called back it was too late and I am having a terrible time dealing with the guilt that I deserted her. I should have been there for her even if she was groggy from surgery. If anybody can help me understand please e-mail me - barbjabb1@peoplepc.com - words cannot describe my love for Candy, she was my life even though I have five other dogs, horses, and cats. Candy was special and we had a bond, she and I. Please help me get through this.

Candy

  • Chow Chow
  • ( dog years)
  • Candy Marie
  • Sit at a moments notice
  • Trying to catch a frog on the other side of a sliding glass door.
  • My husband found her when she was about 10 weeks old.
  • Candy was a wonderful dog, compassionate yet strong willed. When she went blind I became her eyes; when she could no longer get up I was her rear end. I loved her so much, she was my life.
