What I like about my dog

She's incredibly smart and she's my little goof ball.

What my dog likes best about me

I let her sleep in bed with me.

If I didn't have a dog, I'd like a...

dog. Nothing else compares.

  • Rottweiler
  • 6 years (45 dog years)
  • Laylies, Laylie Baileies, Rayra (We lived in Japan, we can't help but call her that.)
  • Spin
  • She ALWAYS has to climb in between Mom and Dad, whether it's in bed or when we're just standing next to one another. If there is no room, she'll make room.
  • The kennel had her hidden in the back so not just anyone could adopt her. They actually recommended her to us.
  • My husband and I were looking to adopt a dog for a couple months and would stop in at the Air Force-run kennel here in Okinawa, Japan every other weekend. As we were leaving one day, we passed a kennel with an emaciated Rottweiler in it. It turns out she was almost starved to death by her previous owners. They left her in her crate, full of feces and urine outside the kennel gate. When she was found, all her ribs and hip bones were visible. Her fingernails were falling off and she weighed about 55 pounds when she was 15 months old! Thankfully the kennel took good care of her and she put on the proper weight in no time. Two weeks later, we adopted her.

It's now 3.5 years later and we can't imagine everyday life without her. Everyone who meets her comment on what a wonderful dog she is. She's such a ham. We feel so lucky to have found her.
