Retired teacher with a diverse background. Singer & actress for over 32 years. Besides a passion for animals rights & caring treatment, I had a period of being top cyclist in my area. That was rather a highlight too, especially since I was 39 years old at the time.
I have always had a dog in my life since I was 3 years old. My family had a Cocker/Lab who was the size of the Spaniel but looked exactly like a lab. Pepper lived to be 17 years old. What a great companion Pepper was for a little girl. Gentle yet protective.
Just before entering college a stray Poodle, approximately a year old, came right up on our porch. No one claimed him, & I simply fell in love. He was named Scruffie, cuz that's exactly what he looked like! He even arrived with a fish hook tangled in his thick curly hair. Scruff lived to be 18 years with only 3 legs, & he was blind & deaf in his last several years. What a survivor! He was also the dog I first considered as being truly mine. He wanted to be with me always, & I took him everywhere! He took me through college & part of my married life. Blessings to your soul, Scruffie!
Shortly after Scruffie's death my daughter & I took a trip to the local Humane Society, & that's where I found my gorgeous Collie Sydney who passed at 19 years old in January 08. What a deep loss I felt from his passing, as he too attached to me completely.
After his death I would take my walks around town as usual, but I couldn't adjust to having no best friend beside me, & I would often cry at seeing others walking with their dogs. Yes, I've been noted as being emotional. Heh heh ~
