I'm 52 years old. I've always loved animals especially dogs. I always seem to be able to bond well with dogs. That makes my wife ( of 25+years) very jealous. But she does very well with handling the dogs we've had in the past, and she handles me very well too.

What I like about my dog

For both my wife and I. No matter how bad a day we might have Dylan is always happy to see us, And that feels good!

What my dog likes best about me

We treat him with respect as a dog. He is becomming a new member of our pack.

Dylan

  • American Pit Bull Terrier

  • Dille, Dill
  • He can get into this tiny little ball when he lays down.
  • He was in a shelter for 2 years cause of he breed rep, & there are over 10K lookin for homes. Hes also a sweetheart! smart as a bag of hammers right now, but a sweetheart!
  • We have Dylan for about 6 months now. He has been in a shelter for 2 years Dylan was adopted out 2 maybe 3 times before we got him. As you all know this breed (APBT) is pure energy,Holy COW! This as well as some other issues that both previous owner and Dylan did wrong was why he was brought back to the shelter. But having that information and having large dogs in the past (98 & 80 lbs) I saw this as a challenge. To take a dog that was a bit of a handful. As I said he is a sweethart and is good with other people. He is very willing to please as he was rejected by the other packs (other adoptive families). He get a bit upset when we leave for work. But sofar he's good while were away. He likes to sleep on the bed with us (a pack bonding thing) but he gets off when we tell him to. That's not to say he doesn't try the "But I'm so cute and comfy here can't I stay..." routine. Which dose get him some smouchin but he does get down. He has a lot to learn, I see great potential in Dylan. So much so I am considering a career change to be a dog trainer. 7/17/09 I recently got one of those training collors for Dylan ( one of those prong collars) I debaited over it for months made several trips to the pet store with Dylan. I was affraid I would break his spirte. I didn't want a robot dog. BUT I'm happy to say he is doing well with it. He is responding better on the leash. Walkin more calmly. It goes on him all the time But I don't use it all the time. I use it to correct him when necessary. But he is still Dylan when we get home.... Just what we want . He seems to be responding better to other training we have been doing with him also.
