I adopted Missy last July. In September, while working on a ladder, something went wrong with my heart. Approximately a week later, I fell asleep on the couch and stopped breathing. Missy woke me up and then started pawing at my mouth and chest and wouldn't stop whining. She kept this up for over an hour. I finally came to the conclusion that she knew something I didn't. I thought I was having a severe asthma attack. I was extremely weak but managed to get to the hospital. My heart rate was down to 20 beats per minute. I came home 4 days later with a pacemaker. The specialist told me that another day or two and I wouldn't have survived. He told me that I had a very special little dog and that Missy had saved my life. Now, she watches over me day and night.

BTW, I sent friends to my home to get Missy and keep her with them until I got out of hospital. I never left her alone for the 4 days.

  • Missy, Mistletoes, Miss Demenor
  • High 5

  • Thankfully, I wasn't given a choice. She chose me
  • Missy has been my constant companion for the last year. She's usually with me where ever I go. She loves to go for car rides. A friend gave her a tennis ball the first time he met her. She loved it. It's very bald now because she pulled all the fuzz off it but she still loves to chase after it. She loves a good tug of war too. I took a picture of her one night when I looked up from watching TV. She's sitting in the recliner on her butt with her back against the back of the chair and her front paw resting on the arm of the chair. Somehow I think she's trying to imitate Dad.
