My husband calls me "psycho dog lady" but I don't mind. There are certainly worse things to be called, and he says it with love because he knows how much the kids mean to me. The bed gets crowded at night (my side that is) but its all good. I love that they want to snuggle up with mum and sleep. And with my 3 daughters all grown and on their own, I have plenty of time to devote to my little furry babies. They reward me with lots of cuddling and kisses. Life doesn't get any better than this!

What I like about my dog

I like pretty much everything about the kids but most of all, I love how sweet and affectionate they are.

What my dog likes best about me

To snuggle when we sleep

People I've met through my dog

Not a lot really, being that they are all rescues, they aren't as social as I'd like them to be and they tend to get very protective of me when people approach, but we're working on it and they are getting better.

If I didn't have a dog, I'd like a...

can't imagine not having a dog

animal friends

Jazzy

Jazzy

  • Chihuahua
  • 4 years (30 dog years)
  • Jazz. Sis, Little Sister. Diva
  • dancing on her back feet
  • barking insanely when we get home from work
  • Jazzy was a shelter rescue that we saw online one evening and she just had a major "awww" look about her so we drove 80 miles the next morning with Mojo and Boogie to meet her and it was love at first sight (maybe not so much for Boogie)
  • Jazzy has no idea that she's the smallest pup in the house. She tries very hard to boss "the boys" around and when they're playing and get too rough, she goes in and breaks it up. Boogie is a little intimidated by her and Mojo appears to humor her, being he's the alpha. He gives in to her up to a point, then he puts his foot, or rather, his paw, down. But Jazzy usually gets the last word, she's very vocal and will walk away "talking". I can just imagine what she's saying!

Boogie

Boogie

  • Papillon
  • 4 years (30 dog years)
  • Boogie Woogie and BooglyWooglie and Boogie Boy
  • begging for cookies
  • totally going after a rag rug everytime he hears a noise he doesn't like (ie, a car door, thunder, the ice cream truck or trash truck...)
  • love the ears, but Boogie made an impression the moment I laid eyes on him. He was just TOO cute!
  • Boogie is such a character, and while he looks very proper in his photo, don't be deceived. He's a punk at times and we teasingly call him our rebelious teenage boy. He minds when he wants to, but if he's got his attention on something else, you're pretty much out of luck. Luckily he only weighs 8 lbs so he's pretty easy to wrangle when we have to. He's a total spaz when he sees another dog, no matter what the breed and I have really work to keep him under control (not always accomplished I have to admit) I don't think he has any idea that he's appetizer size to some of the dogs he wants to challenge! The boy definately has a case of "little dog" syndrome that we're working on.

Mojo

Mojo

  • Papillon
  • 4 years (30 dog years)
  • momiji and miji
  • protecting mum from "everything"
  • always sits outside the bathroom door when I'm in there
  • he chose me. my husband says its because our hair is the same color.
  • Mojo is hyper-vigilant about protecting his mum and totally devoted to me. When I was laid up after shoulder surgery, I could barely move without tripping over him, but I love his total comittment. I tell him he's Robin to my Batman, my faithful sidekick. I've never had a dog as devoted to me and it's very touching. He's such a sweet and special little guy and the alpha dog of our little pack. Unlike his brother, Mojo is not aggressive unless he thinks I'm being threatened. In fact, he tends to be shy and timid. Loud noises frighten him and when we take walks he stays close to me and is terrified of children coming by on anything with wheels. Still, he's the alpha and steps up when he has to, like when a very large dog came out of nowhere once and grabbed Boogie up in his mouth. Mojo went after this invader with a vengence. My little hero has the heart of a lion.
