I first discovered this website today, after researching canine rhabo-myosarcoma and canine hemangiosarcoma.
Charley was without a doubt the best dog I have ever owned in 65 years. All-too-tragically, we had to put him down this afternoon, just one day shy of a month after I took him into the vet. He wasn't himself, was weak and lethargic, but had not begun to lose weight. He underwent bloodwork, a four-day hospitalization, drug treatment, and continued to decline in spite of all our efforts. Our vet felt that he had an aggressive form of cancer. But it was only after going on this website and reading of hemangiosarcoma that I knew for sure. His symptoms, the course of his illness, and the statistical data were all outlined unmistakably, and he fit the profile to a T.
While we are profoundly grief-stricken at his loss, I am also certain that his care and our decisions on his behalf werer absolutely the best that he could have gotten. And, being the uniquely loving and wonderful dog that he was, the best is what he truly deserved.
