White vinegar

Our take: White vinegar can do an okay job but not as well as some of the products designed for removing urine. It's still the best choice of stuff that's usually at home, so if the oops incident catches you unprepared, use a mixture of white vinegar and water. Whatever you do, do not use ammonia because it chemically mimics urine and will actually cause your dog to use that spot again and again.

I can't believe this product only got a 3-bones rating...unlike all the other chemicals...this one is safe for kids and pets, totally chemically removes the odor (you do have to air out the cleaned area to get the vinegar odor out, but it doesn't take long), can be used at full strength (I always do) on any color carpet in excess and won't stain or hurt a thing. It's great for chocolate milk and grape juice stains...just blot up excess fluid from stain...pour generously over stained area...scrub in and watch the stain disappear. Dog will never vomit/pee/poop there intentionally again and will even treat the vinegar smell as a discipline for those still housebreaking puppies!
