Cedar Duplex Dog Houses by Doowaggle (5 biscuits)

Our take: Duplexes are a new arrival on the dog house scene. You can use this one for two dogs who don't like to share or, since the divider is removable, for one really large dog who can't quite fit his toes into a regular dog house.

These puppies are high end all the way--as they should be at $539 to $1,370 a pop. They've got full cedar framing, tongue-in-groove cedar siding, a pre-installed marine grade vinyl door, optional insulation in the walls and roof, a raised floor, and weather protection in the roof. The red cedar offers some natural resistance to insects and rot. This is definitely a good choice for winter climates if you can afford it.

The dog houses are made to order in five sizes: Small, medium, large, extra large, and mastiff (you could host the annual block party in the latter). If you plan to install an air conditioning unit--what, you didn't know those were available?--they'll pre-drill holes for you.

Cost: high
