Our take: 'Strong, sturdy, and lasts forever' is the reasoning Central Metal fans give for choosing these crates. One person I spoke with said she was still using Central Metal crates she'd bought 30 years ago. They should last forever, considering their prices, which range from $78 to $443 depending on size. They're also quite heavy, so if you're looking for a crate you'll be carrying around a lot, keep looking.

The crates are chrome-plated, heavy gauge wire, with rigidly enforced top and sides. Feet on the bottom keeps the crate up off your floors.
