Krebs Recycle Dog Leash

Our take: Krebs uses a great concept called upcycling. Upcycling takes material that would otherwise end up in a landfill, and uses it for another product in its original form--as opposed to recycling, which turns it into something else.

The dog leashes are made from nylon climbing rope that's retired from climbing (they toss ropes on a regular basis to ensure the climber's safety, not because the rope is bad). They collect both pre-consumer and post-consumer climbing ropes, inspect their sturdiness and wash them, and cut them into dog leash lengths. Rope that doesn't make the grade ends up as furniture stuffing. The leashes are available in 2-, 4-, and 6-feet lengths.

Cost: middle

These are great leashes that will outlast your traditional store-bought leash. I'm still using the one of the original Krebs Recycle leashes we made several years ago. Peter Krebs Krebs Recycle
